Current chip demand downturn is short-term, with auto and industrial driving demand through 2030

As semiconductor demand currently trends downward (due to changes in buying patterns affecting the PC and communication markets), the demand for chips from the automotive and industrial sectors continues to rise. As a result, high demand from these industries will drive the need for semiconductors through the next decade, with significant year-over-year increases.

A recent article from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) highlights research showing the anticipated “vibrant growth”, demonstrating the need for a) an efficient supply chain enabling the automotive and industrial manufacturing industries, and b) the reasoning behind the drive to increase chip manufacturing capabilities outside of Asia.
